How did you get into the fashion industry?

I studied to become a fashion photographer, worked in magazines and felt limited, unable to say what I wanted through that medium so I wrote a letter to Ralph Lauren…The man, not the company. He responded and asked me to come in. I wore a handsome suit I had found at the Salvation Army for $19.99 and he loved it…He hired me and that’s how I got involved in fashion design.

Please let us know a little about your personal style, and what tips you would give to the aspiring sartorial gentleman?

Self expression is the most important thing, it’s not about how much you spend but how you put it together.

I’m interested to know where you got the inspiration to start a shoe business?

I grew up going to London, I spent time in John Lobb on St.James Place when I was a kid and it left a huge impression on me…I also always loved buying shoes (or watching my dad buy shoes at Cleverley)….I was always bummed out that the style were so limited and traditional, I guess that is what planted the seed.

Where are your shoes made?

What 5 tips would you give to someone wanting to start a fashion
business?

1. Stay focused on the vision you have. Everyone tried to get me to bend what you think it should be, if you bend it becomes “their” company vision, not yours.
2. Believe in the fact that you know your customer, everyone told me in my first year, “you have to have a standard black cap toe, it is what you are going to sell”…still don’t have one and I am doing fine.
3. Patience…The temptation is there to do everything all at once, but there is no way to grow that fast and do each thing properly…Take your time!

My mother is a child of the 70s, so I grew up listening to her disco records and admiring the glitz of the era. My favorite divas were never afraid to turn up the glamour in sequins, hot pants, and platforms.

That's exactly what drew me to these shoes. They flashy enough to make a statement but easy to dress down for an everyday errand run. And yes, I would absolutely wear these with a maxi dress to go grocery shopping. Fashion is a lifestyle.

Tika Sumpter's outfit makes me uncomfortable. Probably because it reminds me of the bad old days when my mother stuck me in ill-fitting high waisted jeans that rode up uncomfortably. But somehow Tika manages to pull it off.

Definitely a 90s throwback. She's Winter on top and Summer down below. Not quite sure how I feel about it, but I'm leaning toward loving it.

There's something about Tyra. Maybe it's her indisputable fashion resume that gives her the ability to wear the most questionable ensembles or maybe it's her nonchalant attitude toward fashion. No matter what she wears she's always having fun.

That being said, I have some questions about this monochrome outfit. I do love how she used the vest/belt contraption to cinch her waist and give her an hourglass shape. But the grey on grey on grey isn't my favorite. I'm looking to invest in a pair of grey skinnies though.

Ciara is giving you body, honey. Every time I see her, I find myself in awe of her toned abs and legs. That's probably because she doesn't mind putting them on full display.

The bottom half of this outfit is perfection. The dark wash pencil leg jeans and Christian Louboutin Pigalle pumps are a perfect pair. The top half is classic Ci. Definitely not workable for everyone.

Roberto Andrés Bruce Pruzzo went from Chilean farm boy to one of the leading names in morning television news as a young adult. Born

on Jul. 30, 1979, in Talagante, 35 kilometers southeast of Santiago’s city center, he began studying journalism in the late 1990s at the Universidad Diego Portales in the capital’s university district of Barrio Republica.
After the century changed over, Bruce graduated and began his broadcasting career with Television Nacional de Chile, or TVN. From the start of that career, he contributed his reporting talent to the morning program “Buenos Días a Todos,” serving as a field and entertainment reporter. Anchor Felipe Camiroaga selected him to help cover the important story of the reconstruction effort on the remote Archipelago Juan Fernandez, clearly indicating his regard for Bruce, the younger broadcaster.
Earlier this year, Bruce became one of the leading personalities in a new program called “Dónde la viste” (“Where you see”), a comedy entertainment show in which he co-starred with Natalia Valdebenito, Sebastián Layseca and Natalie Nicloux. He was definitely a rising star on TVN when he boarded the CASA C-212 plane to Juan Fernandez on Friday.

Search Continues for Cause of Chile Plane Crash
Up to now only four of the bodies have been recovered and returned to their families, while the scattered human remains of others on the plane are being collected

SANTIAGO – The work of finding and identifying the remains of 17 of the 21 people killed when a Chilean military aircraft crashed continued Monday, while the armed forces defend the pilot’s competence and press on with the investigation into what caused the tragedy, though still without results.

Up to now only four of the bodies have been recovered and returned to their families, while the scattered human remains of others on the plane are being collected.

In order to identify them, the coroner’s office will take blood samples from family members of the victims still missing from the crash of the air force CASA C-212 that went down at sea last Friday near Robinson Crusoe Island, some 670 kilometers (416 miles) from the mainland.

Coroner’s office director Patricio Bustos said in Santiago that he will also ask the families for photos, X-rays, medical records, dental plaque and any other elements that might help them in their work.

On board the aircraft were 21 people including journalists from Television Nacional, notably popular show host Felipe Camiroaga, members of an organization aiding reconstruction after the 2010 earthquake, members of the National Council of Culture and the Arts and air force personnel.

Up to now only fragments of the aircraft have been found, including a wheel and a door, and efforts are being made to find the fuselage, since some of the bodies might still be inside.

The government believes it likely that the airplane disintegrated on impact and that all the occupants were killed instantly.

“It’s very probable we won’t have total success with this effort, but at least we should do everything humanly possible to achieve that goal,” President Sebastian Piñera said.

Joining the search for the remains of the accident is the clairvoyant Carmen Diez, traveling in one of the navy ships sent to the crash site.

Defense Minister Andres Allamand, who is currently on the island, said that the clairvoyant has given “coherent and plausible” information with regard to the technical data available for finding the victims.

Southwest of the island, where the CASA is believed to have gone down, the underwater search goes on, and if any remains are found, divers and a robot submarine will be called in to examine the depths of the ocean thoroughly.

Also taking part in the task are five navy vessels, boats equipped with sonar to sweep the coast and three military helicopters overflying the coastline. Fishermen from the island are also lending a hand.

Meanwhile the authorities have launched an investigation into the causes of the tragedy.

These aircraft carry no black boxes, so the investigation will be based on other elements, such as inspections of the parts of the crashed aircraft that have been found up to now, the prosecutor in charge of investigating aviation accidents, Sergio Sepulveda, told Radio Cooperativa.

Air force secretary-general Maximiliano Larraechea, for his part, defended the competence and experience of Lt. Carolina Fernandez, the 26-year-old officer who was piloting the plane. She had been in the service for eight years and logged more than 1,000 hours of flight time.

Larraechea, however, did not totally rule out human error among the causes of the tragedy.

“We’re talking about some mechanical failure, the effect of the wind, some pilot error, or a mixture of all of the above. But at the time the plane crashed, it had enough fuel,” Larraechea said.

The high-ranking official considered it improbable that the accident was due to the high winds or the lack of fuel, though he warned that there is little likelihood of finding out what happened for sure.

The tragedy has moved the nation, which on Monday observed the first of the two days of mourning decreed by the government.

Citizens have gone to show their grief at the Television Nacional studios, which on Monday during its morning program “Buenos Dias a Todos” (Good Day to Everyone), formerly hosted by Felipe Camiroaga, offered a heartfelt tribute to the victims.

“This is immense sorrow. What these people had in common was working disinterestedly for others, seeking the best for everyone in institutions so important for our society,” former President Michelle Bachelet, who governed Chile from 2006 to 2010, said on Television Nacional.

And about Camiroaga, the current executive director of the U.N. Women organizations said that he was “a just, transparent, honest, approachable man, who always sought dialogue to overcome differences, and was concerned about the causes of the humblest people.”

Buried on Sunday was one of the crash victims, journalist Roberto Bruce, while on Monday funerals were held in Santiago for TVN journalist Silvia Slier and National Council of Culture and the Arts official Galia Diaz, and in the northern city of Antofagasta the last rites for Cpl. Erwin Nuñez.

The crash was also a hard blow for the 630 inhabitants of Robinson Crusoe Island, the only inhabited land in the archipelago, where the victims were headed to aid with reconstruction work following the 2010 tsunami that swept this region.

Last Wednesday, she grabbed lunch in Brentwood, California wearing a pair of paint-splattered jeans and combat boots.
But, although her music and her fashion choices may be quite different than Beyonce's, Pink still had some great advice (and plenty of praise) for Sasha Fierce. Via Twitter, she said, "What an adorable way to announce a baby. Congratulations Beyonce and Jay-Z! Get your sleep now."
Yes, the singer-actress-fashion plate Beyonce and rapper-music mogul Jay-Z probably should both try to take a break from their busy schedules to rest up for baby. It will definitely be a huge transition for the perpetually on-the-go couple who have each developed quite the entertainment empire.
Speaking of, the production for her upcoming movie, a remake of A Star is Born, has already been put on hold. Plus, she's no doubt slowly cutting back on her stage time and appearances, although her smashing performance at the VMAs proved that she can still rock out, even with a bun in the oven.

When Beyoncé performed at 10:35 p.m. ET Sunday night, there were 8,868 tweets per second. Twitter said that rate was a record for the service.
At the VMAs, Beyoncé revealed a baby bump, cupping her growing belly for photographers as she arrived and rubbing her tummy when she performed. The 29-year-old singer is married to Jay-Z.
The VMAs drew MTV's biggest audience since the network began measuring its viewership. Sunday night's show attracted 12.4 million viewers.
Beyoncé's baby announcement topped the previous Twitter record of 7,196 tweets per second, which was set in July after Japan beat the United States in the final of the women's World Cup.

I'm not sure how they manage to do year after year, but MTV's Video Music Awards got a little weirder again. Still, Beyonce upstaged the 28th annual event Sunday by showing off her baby bump on the black carpet (it was black, not red—not sure why).

The 29-year-old singer is pregnant, expecting her first child with rap superstar hubby Jay-Z. After bringing the house down with her standout performance later in the night, she clutched her belly to repeat the news, clearly delighting Jay-Z and Kanye West in the audience.

Hurricane Irene, ongoing drought in Texas, economic worries ... never mind all that. On Sunday night when Beyonce Knowles announced on MTV's Video Music Awards that she was pregnant, her baby bump gave Twitter a bump of its own. By 10:35 p.m., Twitter said people were posting a record 8,868 tweets per second.
Maybe people just needed a break. Maybe they were thrilled for Knowles and her husband, rapper Jay-Z. Maybe they had electricity, something 8 million people didn't have because of the storm, and wanted to go online to flaunt it.
At any rate, they helped spread the news when Knowles confirmed her pregnancy on MTV.
"I want you to feel the love that's growing inside me," she said during her performance.

The audience seemed as riveted as Gaga's screaming fans -- Britney Spears gaped watching her shtick.
Spears took the stage soon after Gaga to accept the pop video of the year award for "Till the World Ends." She looked like a head of state in next to Gaga, thanking God and professing her love for her sons and agent/boyfriend, Jason Trawick.
They shared the stage later in the evening when Gaga presented Spears with the video vanguard award and confessed, either jokingly or for real, "I used to hang posters of her on my wall and touch myself while I was laying in bed." She tried to kiss Spears but got shot down: "I've done that already," Spears said, referencing her mini make out with Madonna at the 2003 VMAs.
R&B star Chris Brown gave one of the night's best dance performances, flying and somersaulting above the crowd on gossamer strings. British breakout singer Adele wowed without flashy props, belting out "Someone Like You." Lil Wayne offered an off-the-wall rendition of an expletive filled track off his new album, online today, "Tha Carter IV."
Celebration broke for reflection when Tony Bennett took the mic to pay tribute to Amy Winehouse, who passed away last month after years of drug and alcohol abuse. Winehouse's final recording, "Heart and Soul," was a duet with Bennett.
"She was a true jazz artist in the tradition of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday," he said. "Either you've got it or you haven't got it and Amy had the whole gift, she sang beautiful."

Now that's what I call a show

Yes it's that time of year again where MTV wheel out the big guns and herd every single massive pop star on earth into a theatre in LA for the VMA 2011. If you're known by two names then you were strictly B-List because Adele, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Kanye, Gaga were where it's at
Now because this is an MTV Awards there were no Best Album categories or anyting as prepostourous as that, oh no. It's all about the video baby - including the ridiculous "Best Video With A Message" category - which is hilariously wank isn't it? In the list i've also included the fabuloud description given to each vifdeo from the MTV website. I particularly enjoyed them trying to justify Bruno Mars pushing a piano around. Anyway... the nominees (winner in bold):

But sometimes you just have to let ‘er rip. Neon hair has gotten out of control, but I kind of like it. With the exception of Rihanna’s recent foray into bigger, redder and uglier hair. The 30 contestants for Miss República Portuguesa 2011 are already chosen. The pageant will be held at the Olga Cadaval Cultural Center in Sintra on August 27. The overall winner will be crowned Miss Mundo Portugal 2011 and will represent Portugal in Miss World 2011 in London, England on November 6. The runners-up will attend other international pageants. One of them will go to Miss International 2011 in Chengdu, China. Contestants from the 18 districts of Portugal, 10 foreign Portuguese communities, Madeira and the Azores will compete at the national pageant.

Hemaraj is a mixed lion between a Hem and a Lion. The woird "Hemaraj" is a combined word from "Hem" and "Raja". It's ahard to describe what a "Hem" is. Some say Hem is much like a Hong (Swan) But in some depiction the head of a Hem looks more like Cocodile's.

2010 Miss Korea winner Chong So-ra left Seoul Monday to compete in the 2011 Miss Universe beauty pageant, which will be held at Credicard Hall, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Sept. 12.

Chong prepared for the international event by practicing arranging her hairdo and makeup as well as perfecting her speech and talent show, all without a trainer, after being crowned Miss Korea last August.

“Miss Universe is a big event and I am grateful and thrilled to attend the event as a representative of Korea,” she was quoted by the Hankook Ilbo as saying. The Hankook Ilbo is a sister paper of The Korea Times.

She said the most difficult part in preparing for the international beauty pageant was staying in shape and choosing a dress.

“If I had more time, I would improve my figure and practice for interviews,” Chong said.

The 20-year-old said she wants to show the understated beauty of Korea at the contest.

“I am concerned that the judges might not agree with my concept of beauty. I think Korean beauty comes from inner values,” she said.

The Miss Universe beauty pageant, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, is one of the largest beauty contests in the world. At this year’s Miss Universe, 89 beauties will compete, the largest number ever.

Among Korean participants, Lee Honey was named the third runner-up in 2007.
